BW students spend spring break 2017 volunteering in Washington
Five diverse cities, 35 compassionate Baldwin Wallace University students and one short spring break week added up to a world of difference. The BW Alternative Break service program gives students the opportunity to spend their breaks helping others. The spring student volunteers traveled to Clarkston, Ga., New Orleans, New York, Washington and Wheeling, W.Va. Each experience was led by a BW student with support from a University faculty or staff adviser.

Select women recognized at Baldwin Wallace University's 123rd White Rose Ceremony
The White Rose Ceremony is held annually in memory of Philura Gould Baldwin, granddaughter of BW founder John Baldwin and BW's first librarian. At the behest of the Baldwin family, an oration is given and select female graduates participate by carrying white roses that serve as a memorial to Philura whose life was cut short by tuberculosis at age 27. While no criteria must be met, each woman must have, in her own unique way, distinguished herself by making a difference in the BW community.

Members of Youngstown State University's Forensic Science Club traveled recently to Quantico, Va., to visit the FBI Training Academy. The trip was coordinated by Robert E. Wardle III, an associate professor of Forensic Science at YSU; Todd Werth, FBI Supervisory Senior Resident Agent; and Bailey Choma, Forensic Science Club president.

Graduating seniors recognize inspiring high school teachers with James Thomas Award at Baldwin Wallace University
Four graduating seniors successfully nominated high school teachers for special recognition this spring. Teachers who engaged, inspired and encouraged the students, while preparing them for college, were recognized with the James Thomas High School Teacher Award. The award is funded by BW alumnus and trustee James Thomas, chairman and CEO of Thomas Properties Group LLC.

BW students celebrate "Sweet Sixteen" Dance Marathon to fight pediatric AIDS
Over 80 students participated in the 16th Annual Dance Marathon at Baldwin Wallace University. Dance Marathon is the largest philanthropy organization on campus. Lasting 12 hours, the marathon consists of performers, dancing and HIV/AIDS education. All proceeds are donated to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, which seeks to educate and reduce the the transmission and cases of pediatric AIDS worldwide.

BW students spend winter break volunteering in New Orleans
Thirty-seven caring Baldwin Wallace University students made a difference by volunteering at four diverse destinations during the 2016 fall semester. The BW Alternative Break service program gives students the opportunity to spend their breaks helping others. Student volunteers traveled to Detroit over Thanksgiving break and to San Antonio, New Orleans and Chicago over winter break.

Baldwin Wallace University students "Discover India"
Twenty-two BW students participated in the "Discovering India" program, a transformative experience in Bangalore, New Delhi and Agra, during the fall 2016 semester. The program provides an in-depth understanding of India's culture, social institutions and business environment through a semester of study and preparation in the classroom before traveling to India for hands-on experiences.

More than 500 students earned endowed scholarships at Baldwin Wallace University this fall. BW has a long history of endowed scholarship support from alumni, faculty, trustees and friends. More than 385 named scholarships provide over $3 million to help students attend, persist and graduate from BW. Endowed scholarships vary in their requirements with many specifying financial need, a course of study, involvement on campus or a commitment to excellence in a particular field.

Baldwin Wallace University awards merit scholarships to accomplished first-year students
More than 400 first-year students welcomed to the Baldwin Wallace University campus this fall earned $5.2 million dollars in merit scholarships for their outstanding high school achievements. BW grants a wide range of scholarships to current students each year. Including merit and need-based scholarships, BW students received over $41 million in financial support from the University for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Summer Scholars follow passions in research and creative studies at Baldwin Wallace University
From apps to earthworms to Shakespeare and more, 11 students pursued research or creative projects of their own design under the supervision of a faculty mentor as part of BW's Summer Scholars Program. Scholars lived together for 10 weeks on campus and had extensive opportunities to engage in collaborative activities within an intellectual community. Participants will present the results of their projects in the lobby of Strosacker Hall on Oct. 6 from 4-6 p.m.
